I would like to start brushing my dogs teeth, but I don’t want to make her sick as a result. Can somebody tell me how to make a safe homemade toothpaste for dogs?

Don’t recommend you make it yourself. Use can’t buy all the good ingredients like enzynes that are in commercial toothpaste. Just buy it at the pet store.

The ingredients to make it would cost you more than just buying some at a pet store. You need to be careful because dogs can’t spit if they swallow something harmful.

I wouldn’t do it. Just take your dog to the vet and let them clean their teeth for you occassionallly.

Whatever you do, don’t use human toothpaste. That is bad for dogs. However, you can buy a good toothpaste made specially for dogs. That’s what I do.

Here’s what I use and it works great:

Boil 1 cup of water on the stove.
Add 1 tbsp. of dried sage.
Allow the sage to steep for five minutes.
Strain the liquid into a bowl.
      Add 2 tbsp. of peroxide.
Add 2 cups of baking soda.
      Stir this mixture.
Add more liquid or baking soda until the desired consistency is achieved.

It can be stored in the fridge for a little over 2 weeks.
